Mitsui
Mitsui Hamada--main character; sister of Matsuo; daughter of Mother and Father Hamada; enemy of Kenji; student of Sensei Nakai; love of Boku; student of Sung
Mitsui starts her young life torn between revenge and dedication to her family. More than anything, she wants her father to allow her brother to come back home after his exile to a monastery. His crime? Bringing dishonor to his father--and therefore to the family--by being defeated in a fight during training. Her five-year old mind believes the only way to bring him home is to defeat the one who won the fight: Kenji. If she can defeat Kenji, her brother will be allowed home, her father will stop being so angry and she can have the loving family she’s always wanted. In the years Mitsui spends training with her father, she improves enough to finally even defeat him, so feels she is finally ready. But she is not the only one who has been improving. The object of her rage, Kenji, has not been idle and has quickly advanced in skill and position. He has also grown in other ways--ways Mitsui could not imagine. Now, to defeat him, she will find she has much more to learn and very little of it has to do with martial arts.
