Edo Blood - Haiku
The principal poetic style of EDO BLOOD is haiku (5-7-5). Though it is originally a Japanese style, Mitsui's haiku were so elegant that the style was adopted by everyone she shared them with--even Sung. Here are a few samples of their work.
Mitsui--Before
Clouds veil the sunset
Yet orange rays still escape
Sunlight will not hide
Kenji--Before
Life lived with honor
A life pledged to my Daimyo
Death a great reward
The Wizard (Liu Shen)
No midnight too black
No light for this frozen soul
Darkness above all
Sung
Awake with the dusk
Alive with midnight feasting
Asleep with the dawn
Mitsui--After
Power the true prize
The only thing worth keeping
Even blood must bow
Kenji--After
Dark envelops me
Entombed again, I slumber
Safe from one more dawn
The Wizard (Liu Shen)
Crimson compels me
Scarlet feeds this famished beast
The blood is the life
Sung
Dark above it all
Gliding on the moonlit winds
Sleeping prey beckons
